Towards the end of 1971, with escalating financial problems, Marcos made a last-ditch attempt at producing a true Marcos at a budget price - The Marcos 1600 MK II.

The car used the Ford 1600 GT engine and gearbox was similar externally to the 3 Litre Ford with the exception of the central power bulge. All cars were supplied with steel wheels, no bumpers, no sill panels, a wide matt black bodywork stripe from front to rear, manual windows, a one-piece wood grained effect dashboard, and various other money saving features.

Sadly, it was too little too late and only six of these cars were produced at Westbury. All of the cars were invoiced through The Rob Walker Garage Group, who had control of the company at the time.
